Outlast

Stagnant on the cuff staring at the sun feel the cold wind
Summer’s long enough I don’t mean to rush but I’m tired of standing in it
Picking at the words like a fingernail over blue scabs
Hoping I can say something magical something that’ll make you last

Oh I feel safe in your blue eyes
Even though you’re wasting away
I could stay through winter
See the snow through your gaze
Cause In the morning we’ll wake up
If we push past the pain
We can outlast the seasons
Hoping something has changed

We can find light, we can find warmth, we can find the beach
Take the crows path through the bare trees through the dead leaves
Feel the warm sand, feel the sun drop, feel at peace
Watch your eyes change from the gray clouds, to the dark sea
We can try, we can try to wait, take your hollow chest right to the grave,
Turning red, turn your head, the meaning’s in your iris

Oh I feel safe in your blue eyes
Even though you’re wasting away
I could stay through winter
See the snow through your gaze
Cause In the morning we’ll wake up
If we push past the pain
We can outlast the seasons
Hoping something has changed
