Hated For Who I Am, Loved For Who I'm Not

by Daniel Smith (Daniel Smith)

This is the most honest I have ever been.

I’d rather die before your eyes than live and not be seen.

I don’t believe in miracles, in fate, or destiny.

I don’t believe in anything, that I cannot touch or see.

……….And before you go, there’s something I’d like you to know

I’d rather earn ten dollars, than be given it for free.

I’d rather you searched for the truth, instead of blaming it on me.

I’d rather know a little, than think I know a lot.

And I’d rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I’m not.

So in the name of being honest, I write these words for you.

I have nothing else to prove to you and nothing left to lose.

So with that said let me say it clear and leave nothing left unspoken

I will wear my scars, I will bend and break, but always be unbroken

And before you go, there’s something I’d like you to know…….

I’d rather earn ten dollars, than be given it for free.

I’d rather you searched for the truth, instead of blaming it on me.

I’d rather know a little, than think I know a lot.

And I’d rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I’m not.

I’d rather do it right now, than wait for another day.

I’d rather you moved than just stand and block my way.

I don’t need charity, I’ll earn it on my own.

I don’t need your company, I’ve learned to be alone.

And before you go there’s something I’d like you to know.

I’d rather do it my way and fail than to just go with the flow

I don’t expect for you to understand.

I’d rather fail than succeed by someone else’s hand.

And before you go there’s something I’d like you to know.

I’d rather earn ten dollars, than be given it for free.

I’d rather you searched for the truth, instead of blaming it on me.

I’d rather know a little, than think I know a lot.

And I’d rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I’m not.

I’d rather earn ten dollars, than be given it for free.

I’d rather you searched for the truth, instead of blaming it on me.

I’d rather know a little, than think I know a lot.

And I’d rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I’m not.
